Here's what the brake controller can look like installed in your Jeep and honestly I think it's a pretty good fit. You know, it's relatively compact in size and with these Cherokees, you know, there's just not a whole lot of room on the dash to mount up a bigger style brake controller. Curt Echo In-Line Bluetooth Brake Controller Installation - 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Hi John with etrailer. If your Jeep is already equipped with a trailer tow package and seven pole wiring, but you need a brake controller, then check this option out from CURT, this is the CURT Inline Bluetooth brake controller and then we've installed this on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now on the app, you can save up to five different profiles if you have multiple trailers. That is handy. Now we've selected profile one and on this you're gonna be able to adjust your maximum break output, your sensitivity output, and you're gonna have a large circle, which is gonna be your manual overrider sway control. Now we have a brake box simulator that is hooked up to the rear of our Jeep right now, so that if I do press the brakes, you're gonna see them applying and you're gonna have the brake lights left and right on the brakes being applied. more

There's a lot of these Cherokees out on the road and people use 'em to do a lot of different things and pull on some relatively large trailers around. Something that you see from time to time, pop up campers, things like that and if your trailer has electric brakes on it, you're gonna need a way to apply those brakes, that way you're not solely relying on your Jeep to not only slow itself down but the trailer too. So having a brake controller like this one here that's where it's going to change things up a little bit. So if that's what you're pulling, you're gonna want a way to activate those brakes on the trailer to help bring you to a more predictable and complete stop and not just have to rely solely on the Jeep's brakes to slow everything down. This is gonna work for trailers with one up to three axles. Now, to help us with our installation, we'll also be using part number ETBC7, which is an electronic brake controller installation kit. Now there are several advantages to the Tow-Pro Elite that we get here that we don't often get with standard proportional brake controllers. The user control function, I think, a very, very good design. Basically, it's gonna allow us to switch from the blue mode, which is proportional, to a green mode; that's user controlled. more

It's what our brake controller is going to look like when it's installed. This is going to give us the options to adjust our brakes on our trailer, to suit the weight that we're towing. It's going to be a proportional brake controller, which means we can set it to match the brake pressure that we apply in our brakes or on our brakes in our vehicle. One thing to keep in mind is if your vehicle does not have a factory tow package, you will need the ETBC7 kit, in order for your brake controller to work.ETBC7 kit is going to come with everything needed to get it installed. more

And to help us with our installation, we're going to be using the Tekonsha plug in wire adaptor for electric brake controllers.Whether we're towing a trailer for fun, or we're towing it for work, we want to know that when we're pulling it, that our trailer is going to stop. As our brake controller is going to make sure that the brakes on the trailer are working properly. Well, the P2 is going to be a proportional brake controller. What that means is whenever we apply the brakes in our Jeep, they're going to be applied at the same time and intensity on our trailer. So if we come to a stop at a stop light, easing in, our trailer brakes are going to start and engage softly. more

Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today on our 2012 Jeep wrangler Unlimited, we're going to take a look at the Curt Echo proportional brake controller.Now, the Curt Echo brake controller's going to give us a great solution. This allows us to have braking power sent to our trailer without going through all the major modifications generally associated with a brake controller installation.As long as you have a working seven pole with power to it, the brake controller's going to work out really well.It is proportional, so, if you're in a heavy stop situation or you're slamming on your brakes, it's going to send that same type of power to our trailer. Vice versa if we're in just a traffic situation, we're just slowly coming to a stop, it's going to sense that as well and it sends that kind of power to our trailer, so we're not overworking or under working our trailer. It really makes it much safer than the old time delayed systems that we had.Now, this is going to work for six volt systems, all the way up 24 volt systems and one or two axles, so it's a little of two or four brake assemblies.Now, the installation process for our Echo is very straightforward and simple. You want to take our trailer plug, you're going to plug that right into the Echo and just like on standard seven pole plugs you can see we've got the catch here on the lid to go behind the tab on the plug there so they can't be separated.At that point, we're going to place this right into a working seven pole. See our light Indicates that we do have power to it, we just need to pair it with our phone.Now, to control our brake controller, instead of having to mount something on our dashboard or make modifications up there, we'll just want to go to the Apple or Play store, download the Echo smart control app. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be installing Tekonsha's Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90195, and in conjunction with that, we'll be using Tekonsha's Plug-In Wiring Adaptor, part number 3045-P.This is a premium brake controller with an abundance of extra features in addition to a regular trailer brake controller's uses. This braking system is proportional, so the faster you're moving and the harder you apply the brakes, the more that it's gonna transfer back to your trailer, allowing it to stop the same way that your vehicle stops.It can be mounted in the 360 degree rotation, 'cause it'll auto level itself. This is nice so you can get the most out of the locations where you can place it on your vehicle. The buttons located on the left allow you to set the power. Higher power settings will give you a more aggressive braking and lower settings will be less sensitive. This is useful if you have different trailer loads. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller, part number 331-EBRH-ACCV2. In conjunction with the etrailer ETBC7 kit in order to ease our installation, part number ETBC7.Here's what our Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller looks like installed. Once we have it installed it will need to calibrate itself initially and that'll happen with about 20 applications of the brake pedal while the vehicle is in motion. You'll know once it's calibrate when you hook it up to your trailer and you'll have a solid green LED light.Now what's great about this brake controller compared to other proportional brake controllers on the market is that we can mount this virtually anywhere. The Redarc Tow-Pro Elite is also proportional but you can also use it in a user control mode as well. What the user control mode is going to it is going to allow you to have the brakes being applied at all times whenever your foot is on the brake pedal, this will be great for off road applications such as if you're towing an overlaying camper or driving over rough terrain and hills this will allow you to have full control over your brakes without having false activations if you're only putting light pressure on your brake pedal.Another great feature about it is that it's super easy to use. more

The only part that we're gonna have visible on our vehicle at all is our actual push button here with our control knob. As you can see how small and compact it is this makes it an ideal solution for vehicles that don't have a lot of room in order to mount a conventional brake controller. Also if you don't want to have a brake controller mounted in the conventional spot on the lower right hand portion of your dash board because it interferes with your legs while you're driving this is a great solution for you too. Not only that but you can mount the control knob in a location where it's easy for you to reach and see while you're driving so you don't have to take your eyes off the road.As you can see with the location here of our gear shifter and our knob it is in a great location of where our hand will be resting while we're driving when our hand's not on the steering wheel. If we need to shift gears or adjust our brake controller we can easily do it without moving our arm very far.Now our brake controller has an LED that's built into it which shows you where your currently positioned on your knob, anywhere from zero all the way up to ten. more

Today, on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited With Factory 7-Way, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller, Part Number: 90195. Now to help us with our installation, we're going to be using the Wiring Kit for 2, 4, 6, and 8 Brake Electric Trailer Brake Controllers, Part Number: 5506. So here's what our break controller looks like when it's fully installed. The thing I really like about this particular break controller is that it is a proportional break controller. What that means is it's going to automatically activate our trailer brakes in proportion to our vehicle breaking action. So it's going to automatically adjust the breaking based on how much our vehicle is decelerating. So right now we're at a dead stop, but I do have something hooked up to the back, so it realizes that. more

Today on our 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. To ease our installation we'll be using the wiring kit for electric trailer brake controllers, part number 5506. This is a truly proportional brake controller that will apply the trailer brakes in direct proportion to our vehicle's deceleration. It activates immediately, unlike some other time delayed brake controllers. You will be able to safely use all trailer brakes up to 4 axles and you'll be able to slow down a trailer safely without putting more strain on your vehicle's brakes. When we press on our brake pedal with our boost level turned off, you can see we don't have any brake amperage that would apply our trailer brakes. The reason for this is because our vehicle's not in motion. more

Today on our 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Hopkins InSIGHT. This is a proportional flex mount trailer brake controller that's going to work great for one up to four axles. Part number is HM47297. We're also going to be using the universal installation kit for trailer brake controller. This is going to offer both a 7 way RV plug and a 4 pull flat. Part number on that is ETBC7. As a great feature we're going to have a constant monitor that's going between our brake controller and our trailer to let us know everything's connected properly. As you can see as I plug in my trailer a small red light's going to come on indicating it's connected. more

Today on our 2014 JEEP Wrangler unlimited we will be taking a look at and installing the Tekonsha prodigy P3 brake control system, part number 90195 with the assistance from the universal installation kit part number ETBC7.Speaker 2: Now that we have everything hooked up let's plug it in and see how it works. Clip it in and pop it in the holder. Now that we have got our trailer hooked up you can see it actually recognizes that it's there. We can go ahead and change our power settings. We have our emergency brake boost on the bottom and that pushes it all the way up to what we have it set on our power setting. It won't go over it unless you adjust your settings. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller, part number 90885. We will also be using the Tekonsha Plug In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers part number 3045-P. This will plug into your factory wiring harness underneath the dash into the back of the P2 brake installer. Now that we have the Prodigy P2 installed in our Grand Cherokee, you can see we have power going to it, we can go ahead and connect our trailer to it. What you do, you'll get a C4 00:00:33 connection, go ahead and run through the functions. Here's the manual override here on the bottom of it. You can see it's getting power. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller, part number 90885. Note, this vehicle is already equipped with the manufacturer's 7-pole so we'll need to add our brake controller, the 4-pole plug that comes with our brake controller, and the Draw-Tite brake controller install kit, part number 5506. The additional wiring will be used to connect the power and ground for our brake controller. Now let's first go ahead and find the manufacturer's blue wire that will supply brake controller power to the 7-pole connector. on this application it's located above the driver side kick panel taped to the manufacturer's wiring harness. We'll go ahead and locate the blue wire and either cut or pull it free. We can see the blue wire here taped to the manufacturer's wiring and above the driver side foot rest. more

We'll be doing this in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-and-Play Direct Fit Wiring Harness, part number 3045-P, designed to plug into the Jeep Grand Cherokee tow port. It displays a no trailer connection until we plug it in. When it's connected, we'll see it boot up. It indicates we're in Boost 1 trailer wiring connected. We can adjust the gain as necessary or go through the menu display for the brake type. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part number 90885. We'll be doing this in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-N-Play Direct Fit Wiring Harness, part number 3045-P, designed to plug directly into the Jeep Grand Cherokee tow port. As you can see, it displays a no trailer connection, "NC," until we plug it in. As soon as we plug it in, we'll see a solid "C," indicating the trailer wiring is connected. We can go through the boost modes to set up four different boost settings, or have settings for up to four different trailers. You can set the gain higher or lower using the thumb-wheel on the driver's side. A manual sweep allows you to apply trailer braking without touching the vehicle brake pedal. Hayes Genesis Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Hayes Genesis brake controller, part number HA81790 and we'll be doing this in conjunction with the Hayes custom wiring adapter part number HA81796-HBC. The Genesis controller is for two to eight brakes or one to four axles. This is an electric over hydraulic brake controller. For proportional, this brake controller will activate immediately no pausing like with time delayed brake controllers. To begin the install, we'll first go ahead and locate the manufacturers brake controller tow port. The port is located near the fire wall behind the parking brake pedal. If we look at the top of the inaudible 00:00:54, we're we see the manufacturers wiring harness, we can locate the gray tow port plug, then we can take our direct fit wiring harness and plug into the tow port. Then, once we plug into the port, we'll go and take our pig tail and route it over to where we are going to be mounting our brake controller. more
